##### Which batch you go to

- Yantrik is selected only in batch 01/2027. Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I are selected only in batch 02/2027.
- Navik (GD) candidates are placed in either batch by merit, vacancies and service needs. You cannot choose the batch.

##### Zone-wise merit for Navik (GD) male

Navik (GD) male vacancies are split across five zones, with a separate merit list for each. Your zone is decided by your **domicile certificate**, not by where you studied. The zone-wise numbers are shown during registration.

- **North:** Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh
- **West:** Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu
- **East:** West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Odisha
- **South:** Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep
- **Central:** Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar

Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I have one all-India merit list. If your zone has no vacancy for your category (SC, ST, OBC or EWS), you may apply as unreserved, but then you get no age relaxation, no lower passing marks, no fee exemption and no travel fare.

## Age Limit by Date of Birth

The advertisement gives a date-of-birth range for each post instead of an age in years. Both dates are included.

| Post | Born between |
| --- | --- |
| Navik (General Duty), both batches | 1 November 2005 and 1 May 2009 |
| Yantrik (batch 01/2027) | 1 May 2005 and 1 May 2009 |
| Navik (Domestic Branch) (batch 02/2027) | 1 November 2005 and 1 October 2009 |
| Hygienist-I (batch 02/2027) | 1 November 2002 and 1 October 2009 |

**Relaxation:** OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years. There is no relaxation for graduates or any other course, and no sports quota.

## Documents to Keep Ready Before You Apply

Any mismatch between your form and your original documents cancels your candidature, at any stage, even after you join. Keep these ready before you start the form.

- **Photograph:** recent colour passport-size photo, not older than three months before 6 October 2026, light background, JPG, 10–100 KB. A live photo is also taken by webcam during the form and must match it.
- **Signature:** JPG, 10–100 KB.
- **Date of birth proof:** Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate, JPG, 50–150 KB.
- **Identity proof:** Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Driving Licence or Passport, JPG, 50–150 KB. If you have Aadhaar, you must upload Aadhaar. Bring the same ID card to every stage.
- **Domicile certificate:** compulsory for Navik (GD) male (it decides your zone). Where a state issues both domicile and resident certificates, only the domicile certificate is accepted. Others need it only if they are claiming height relaxation.
- **All your marks, subject by subject,** exactly as on your marksheet. Wrong or incomplete marks lead to cancellation. Navik (GD) candidates must always enter their Class 12 Physics and Maths marks.
- **Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS):** issued on or before 21 October 2026 and valid at least up to 31 December 2027. OBC and EWS certificates must be in the Government of India format. If you claim a reserved vacancy, either your current or your permanent address in the form must be the same as the address on the certificate. Formats are in the [official formats file (ZIP)](https://cgept.parikshasaarthi.in/formats/CGEPT_Formats.zip).

Every certificate and marksheet must be issued on or before the last date of application. If your result is out but you do not have the marksheet and certificate by then, you are not eligible. Documents in a language other than Hindi or English must be uploaded with an English translation, and a multi-page document must be merged into one file.

## CGEPT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Stage-I is a computer-based exam: **100 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 1 hour**, in Hindi and English. **There is no negative marking**. If the exam runs in several shifts, marks are normalised.

| Subject | Navik (DB) / Hygienist-I | Navik (GD) | Yantrik |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 10th standard Maths | 25 | – | – |
| 10th standard English | 25 | 15 | 15 |
| 10th standard Science | 15 | – | – |
| General Knowledge | 10 | 10 | 10 |
| General Reasoning | 25 | 15 | 15 |
| 12th standard Maths | – | 30 | – |
| 12th standard Physics | – | 30 | – |
| Diploma-level Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics | – | – | 60 |
| **Total** | 100 | 100 | 100 |

**Passing marks:** 40 for UR, EWS and OBC; 35 for SC and ST. Passing alone does not get you to Stage-II: ICG calls candidates by merit and centre capacity. The pattern is marked tentative in the brochure.

The topic-wise syllabus for every subject (12th Physics and Maths for Navik GD; Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics diploma topics for Yantrik) is in the [CGEPT Information Brochure (PDF)](https://aijobalert.com/documents/indian-coast-guard/icg-cgept-information-brochure-syllabus-b87ca8c0.pdf).

## Physical Fitness Test and Medical Standards

The Physical Fitness Test is held at Stage-II. All four tests are done **one after another without a break**; any break means failure. Bring sports kit (shoes, T-shirt, trousers).

| Test | Male | Female |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1.6 km run | 6 min 30 sec | 8 min |
| Squats (uthak-baithak) | 20 | 15 |
| Push-ups | 15 | 10 |
| Bent-knee sit-ups | 15 | 10 |

##### Medical standards

- **Height:** at least 157 cm (male) and 152 cm (female). Up to 5 cm less is allowed for domiciles of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim, and for Gorkhas. Up to 2 cm less for Ladakh, Lakshadweep & Minicoy and Andaman & Nicobar. To get this relaxation you must upload and show a domicile certificate.
- **Chest (male):** at least 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion.
- **Eyesight:** Navik (GD) 6/6 and 6/9, and **candidates who wear glasses are not eligible for GD**. Navik (DB) 6/36 and 6/36. Yantrik 6/24 and 6/24. Hygienist 6/60 and 6/60 without glasses, 6/9 and 6/24 with glasses.
- **Tattoos:** permanent tattoos are allowed only on the inner forearm (inside of the elbow to the wrist) and the back of the hand. Candidates from tribal communities have a concession. See the tattoo policy in the [official formats file (ZIP)](https://cgept.parikshasaarthi.in/formats/CGEPT_Formats.zip).
- **Hearing and teeth:** you must hear a whisper from 6 m with each ear, and have healthy gums with at least 14 dental points. The advertisement advises getting ear wax and tartar removed before the medical.
- Persons with any disability are not eligible, as ICG is an armed force.

## What Happens at Each Stage

##### Stage-I: computer-based exam

Bring your original ID (the one uploaded in the form), one printout of the e-admit card (black-and-white is fine if the photo and QR codes are clear) and two passport-size colour photos. Your left thumb is scanned; if mehndi or wax stops the machine reading it, you will not be allowed to sit the exam. Get your Stage-I admit card stamped and signed by the SSC official at the centre and keep it: you need it at Stage-II and Stage-III. According to the FAQ, your exam city appears in your login at least 7 days before the exam, and the admit card 2–3 days before.

##### Stage-II: at an ICG recruitment centre

If you are shortlisted, you must upload more documents and pick a date and centre in your login within the time ICG gives. Slots are first come, first served, and missing this step cancels your candidature. Stage-II takes 1–2 days and includes the PFT, an Assessment & Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical. All of it is qualifying only. Bring 12 passport-size photos and 2 self-attested photocopies of every document. SC/ST candidates claiming travel fare must also bring the original ticket, a cancelled cheque and the TA form.

##### Stage-III: INS Chilka

Candidates in the final merit list report to INS Chilka at their own cost for Aadhaar-based identity checks, document verification and the pre-enrolment medical. Bring the police verification, character certificate, parental willingness, willingness and family particulars certificates and the attestation form. All these formats are in the [official formats file (ZIP)](https://cgept.parikshasaarthi.in/formats/CGEPT_Formats.zip). The police verification must be obtained after the last date of application. Aadhaar linked to your mobile number is compulsory at this stage.

##### Stage-IV

Your documents are verified with the boards and universities that issued them, even after you join.

**Merit:** the final order depends only on Stage-I marks, provided you clear every Stage-II test. On a tie, the older candidate ranks higher, then the one with more marks in the assessment test.

## Coast Guard Navik and Yantrik Salary

| Post | Basic pay | Extra |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Navik (GD) | ₹21,700 (Pay Level 3) | DA and other allowances |
| Navik (DB) | ₹21,700 (Pay Level 3) | DA and other allowances |
| Hygienist-I | ₹21,700 (Pay Level 3) | DA and other allowances |
| Yantrik | ₹29,200 (Pay Level 5) | Yantrik pay ₹6,200 + DA and other allowances |

Other benefits listed in the advertisement: free ration and clothing, free medical treatment for you, your family and dependent parents, government housing or HRA, 45 days' earned leave and 8 days' casual leave a year with LTC, NPS or UPS pension, CSD canteen, ECHS after retirement, and ₹75 lakh insurance cover from NGIF on a monthly contribution.

Navik (GD/DB) can be promoted up to Pradhan Adhikari, Yantrik up to Pradhan Sahayak Engineer and Hygienist-I up to Hygiene Supervisor. Promotion to officer rank depends on suitability and performance.

**Training:** basic training at INS Chilka starts in May 2027 for batch 01/2027 and November 2027 for batch 02/2027. You cannot marry or keep family with you during training.

## Mistakes the Advertisement Warns About

- **Applying twice.** You may apply for one post only. If you submit more than one application, only the latest is kept and the fee for the others is not refunded. The FAQ warns that applying for more than one post can get your candidature cancelled.
- **Wrong category.** You cannot change the category later. A candidate who wrongly picks SC/ST/OBC/EWS is not moved to unreserved; their candidature is cancelled.
- **Name or date-of-birth mismatch.** Name, parents' names and date of birth must be the same in the form, the ID card and every certificate. Date of birth and gender can never be changed after you submit.
- **Losing your login.** Your email ID and mobile number appear only in encrypted form after you submit, and ICG will not recover them. Without them you cannot download admit cards or see results.
- **Not checking your login.** ICG communicates only through your login, email and SMS. Missing an admit card or a Stage-II date selection cancels your candidature.
- **Carrying a phone into the exam.** Candidature is cancelled and an FIR is filed.
- **Criminal cases.** You must disclose any FIR or pending case in the form. If a criminal case against you is still pending, the form will not let you continue.

An edit window of 2–3 days will be given after registration to correct a few fields. Email ID, mobile number, category, date of birth, employment type and the post cannot be changed even then. The edit-window dates are not announced yet.
