## Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the written result of the **National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026** on **9 October 2026**. The written exam was held on **13 September 2026**.

The result is a list of roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for the **Services Selection Board (SSB) interview** for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA (**158th Course**) and the **120th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC)**, commencing from **1 July 2027**. The list has separate sections for male and female candidates: by our count, **7,406 male and 480 female roll numbers (7,886 in all)**. UPSC does not print a total.

Your SSB centre and interview date will be sent to your registered e-mail ID. The candidature of everyone on the list is provisional: UPSC checks eligibility against original documents only after candidates qualify for the SSB.

## How to check the UPSC NDA 2 result 2026

1. Open the [UPSC NDA & NA (II) 2026 written result PDF (roll number list)](https://aijobalert.com/documents/upsc/wr-rolllist-engl-nda-ii-2026-091026-b3ab0114.pdf). It is a copy of the PDF on the UPSC website, listed under What’s New as “Written Result: National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026”.
2. Find your roll number on your e-Admit Card. UPSC told candidates to preserve the e-Admit Card until the final result is declared. The list shows **7-digit roll numbers only**, with no names, and many begin with 0, so include the leading zero when you search.
3. Search the PDF (Ctrl+F on a computer, “Find in page” on a phone). Male candidates are listed first, under “MALE CANDIDATES”. Female candidates are listed near the end, under “FEMALE CANDIDATES”.
4. If your roll number is on the list, you have qualified for the SSB interview. Register on joinindianarmy.nic.in within two weeks (next section).

## SSB registration on joinindianarmy.nic.in

UPSC’s result press note says candidates on the list “are requested to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website joinindianarmy.nic.in within two weeks of announcement of written result”.

- **Deadline:** the result was announced on 9 October 2026, so two weeks runs to **23 October 2026**. That date is our own calculation, because UPSC gives no separate last date.
- **Use the same e-mail ID** that you gave in your UPSC online application. The notification says so, and your Selection Centre and SSB dates will be sent to your registered e-mail ID.
- **Already registered?** A candidate who has already registered earlier on the site does not need to register again.
- **Air Force as first choice:** you also register on [joinindianarmy.nic.in](https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/) for AFSB and date selection.

## Documents to carry to the SSB

From the result press note and the notification:

- **Original 10th (matriculation) certificate** or equivalent. All candidates called for the SSB must carry it. It is the certificate accepted in support of your date of birth.
- **Original 10+2 pass certificate or marksheet**, if you have already passed Class 12.
- The **photo ID card** whose details you gave in your UPSC URN profile. The notification advises carrying it to the SSB.
- Wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs who claimed fee exemption: the **fee-exemption certificate from your Principal**, for verification at the SSB.

Submit the original age and educational certificates to the SSB. **Do not send original certificates to UPSC.** Candidates who clear stage II of the SSB submit the originals with one photocopy each of the 10th and 10+2 certificates. The originals are returned after verification.

**Still in Class 12?** If you qualify at the SSB but could not produce your 10th or 10+2 certificate in original there, send duly self-attested photocopies by **10 June 2027**: NDA candidates to the Directorate General of Recruiting, Army HQ, West Block-III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066, and Naval Academy candidates to Naval Headquarters, DMPR, OI&R Section, Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhavan, New Delhi-110011. If you miss this date your candidature will be cancelled, and no request to extend the date will be entertained.

## SSB interview: dates and stages

- **When:** the notification says the SSB interview for candidates who qualify in the written exam is likely to be held in **December 2026 to January 2027**, or as suitable to the Recruiting Directorate. Your own date comes in the call-up letter.
- **Stage I** (first day of reporting): Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). Only those who clear stage I go on to stage II.
- **Stage II** (over 4 days): interview, Group Testing Officer tasks, psychology tests and the conference. The Interviewing Officer, the Group Testing Officer and the Psychologist assess you, and candidates are then Recommended or Not Recommended.
- **Air Force:** candidates must also clear the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). Every candidate for the flying branch takes CPSS only once, and the grade from that first test holds for every later Air Force Selection Board interview. If you fail CPSS, or are not tested because you habitually wear glasses, you will be considered for the Ground Duty branch of the IAF, Navy, Army and Naval Academy according to your choices.
- **Travel allowance:** if this is your first SSB for this type of commission (Permanent or Short Service), you get AC III-tier rail fare or bus fare, to and fro.
- **Postponement:** it is considered only in exceptional circumstances, and only if it is administratively convenient. Address the request to the Administrative Officer of the Selection Centre that sent your call letter. Army Headquarters decides.

Written results and final merit lists for men and women are prepared separately, against the vacancies notified for each. The written result lists 7,406 male and 480 female roll numbers (our count of UPSC’s PDF).

## After the SSB: medical and final merit list

1. **Medical examination:** candidates recommended by the SSB are examined by a Board of Service Medical Officers, and only those declared fit are admitted. A candidate declared unfit is told how to ask for an Appeal Medical Board. The notification advises candidates to get common minor defects treated in advance, to speed up the medical: ear wax, deviated nasal septum, hydrocele/phimosis, overweight or underweight, undersized chest, piles, gynaecomastia, tonsillitis and varicocele.
2. **Tattoos:** permanent tattoos are allowed only on the inner face of the forearm (inside of the elbow to the wrist) and on the reverse side of the palm/back of the hand. Tattoos anywhere else bar a candidate from further selection. Tribes with customary tattoo marks are considered case by case.
3. **Final merit list:** qualified candidates are placed in one combined list on their total marks in the written exam (900) and the SSB (900). Seats are allotted up to the vacancies, subject to eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference.
4. **Marks and cut-off:** UPSC will upload the marks and cut-off marks only after the final result. They stay on the UPSC website for 30 days.

Training is 3 years at the National Defence Academy, or 4 years (B.Tech) at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme. Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training.
