BPSC TRE 4.0 (Advt. 15/2026) has 32,388 school teacher posts. Class-wise vacancy, initial pay, which TET you need, age rules, the ₹100 fee, the 150-question exam and the negative marking rule explained.

The Bihar Public Service Commission has issued Advertisement No. 15/2026 dated 22 September 2026 for the fourth School Teacher Recruitment Exam, TRE 4.0. It covers 32,388 posts under the Education Department, Bihar, and it replaces Advt. No. 14/2026 of 18 August 2026. If you applied under the old advertisement, that application does not carry over.
Online applications run from 25 September to 26 October 2026. The ₹100 fee must be paid by 25 October.
This is the first thing to notice in the vacancy table. Higher secondary posts make up 16,101 of the 32,388 vacancies, almost exactly half. Primary (Class 1–5) has only 3,847.
| Class group | Posts | Initial pay | TET needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary (Class 1–5) | 3,847 | ₹25,000 + allowances | CTET/BTET Paper-I |
| Middle (Class 6–8) | 8,563 | ₹28,000 + allowances | CTET/BTET Paper-II |
| Secondary (Class 9–10) | 3,877 | ₹31,000 + allowances | STET Paper-I |
| Higher Secondary (Class 11–12) | 16,101 | ₹32,000 + allowances | STET Paper-II |
| Total | 32,388 |
If you are eligible for more than one class group, you do not fill separate forms. You set your preference order in a single form.
The academic and professional qualification follows NCTE norms for each class group and subject. For Class 11–12 that generally means a postgraduate degree in the subject with B.Ed, but the subject-wise rules differ, so read your subject's row in the advertisement before you apply.
Candidates who took STET 2026 but are waiting for the result can apply with a self-declaration. They must pass STET 2026 before the written exam. Otherwise BPSC will not issue an admit card. All certificates must be issued by 26 October 2026.
The minimum age is 18 for Class 1–8 and 21 for Class 9–12, counted on 1 August 2026. The maximum age is counted on 1 August 2024, not 2026, which works in your favour:
Yes. But reservation, the 35% quota for women and the lower 32% qualifying mark apply only to Bihar domicile candidates. A woman from another state competes as unreserved and needs 40%.
| Class group | Language (qualifying) | General Studies | Subject | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 1–5 | 30 | 120 | – | 150 questions |
| Class 6–8 | 30 | 40 | 80 | 150 questions |
| Class 9–10 | 30 | 40 | 80 | 150 questions |
| Class 11–12 | 30 | 40 | 80 | 150 questions |
Each paper is 150 marks and 2 hours 30 minutes. The rule to understand before exam day is this: every question has five options, A to E. Option E means "I do not want to answer". One-third of a mark is deducted for a wrong answer, and also for a question where you mark nothing at all. So a blank answer is not safe. If you want to skip a question, mark E.
The language part tests English plus Hindi, Urdu or Bangla, and you need at least 30% in it. It does not count towards merit. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC and 32% for SC/ST/women/PwD (Bihar domicile only).
₹100 for all candidates, plus bank charges. There is an extra ₹200 biometric fee only if you do not give your Aadhaar number.
Not announced. BPSC's exam calendar says the TRE 4.0 exam date will be published after the application period ends. Also in Bihar, BPSC has postponed the Integrated 72nd CCE Prelims that was set for 25 October 2026 (notice of 12 October 2026); its new date will be announced later.
Last checked against these sources on 25 September 2026; the BPSC 72nd CCE line was updated on 12 October 2026. Boards do change dates, so confirm on the official website before you travel or pay a fee.
