UPESSC Advt. 05/2026 has 12,405 primary teacher posts in Uttar Pradesh: 11,508 urban and 897 in aided schools. Eligibility, the +3/−1 marking, fee, tie-break rule and the 3–4 December exam.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has issued Advertisement No. 05/2026 for two primary-level teacher posts, 12,405 in all. The written exam is on 3 and 4 December 2026, and the last date to apply and pay the fee is now 28 October 2026, extended from 15 October by UPESSC’s notice of 15 October 2026.
| Post | Where | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Assistant Teacher, Primary – Urban | Basic Shiksha Parishad urban primary schools | 11,508 |
| Assistant Teacher (affiliated primary) – boys | Government-aided secondary schools | 473 |
| Assistant Teacher (affiliated primary) – girls | Government-aided secondary schools | 424 |
Both are in Pay Level-6: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400. You must state your preference between the two school types in the form, and it cannot be changed after the last date.
Urban post: graduation, plus a basic teacher-training qualification (2-year BTC/D.El.Ed, BTC Urdu, special BTC, RCI-approved special education diploma, 4-year B.El.Ed or NCTE-approved elementary education diploma), plus a pass in a state or central TET.
Affiliated primary post: graduation, an NCTE-recognised BTC or D.El.Ed, and a TET for Class 1–5 conducted by the UP Government or the Government of India.
The minimum age is 21 on 1 July 2026. For the urban post, the maximum is 40, with 5 more years for UP SC/ST/OBC, 15 for UP PwD, and up to 60 for Shiksha Mitras.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Questions | 120 objective, four options each |
| Marks | 360 (3 per correct answer) |
| Negative marking | 1 mark for a wrong or multiple answer |
| Duration | 2 hours |
| Language | Hindi and English |
The ratio matters. With +3 and −1, a guess between two options still has a positive expected score, but a blind guess across four options is roughly break-even. Use elimination before you guess.
If two candidates tie, UPESSC ranks them by graduation percentage, then training percentage, then age (older first). If the exam runs in more than one shift, marks are normalised.
