SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) at Burnpur, West Bengal, has invited online applications for 200 Trade Apprentice seats. The training lasts one year under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and is open to candidates who have passed ITI in one of nine trades: Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder, Ref & AC, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Computer & ICTSM and Draughtsman.
You can apply only through the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) from 28 September to 7 October 2026. There is no written test. SAIL will select candidates on the marks they scored in ITI, trade-wise and category-wise. If two applicants have the same aggregate marks, the older one is preferred.
Welder has the most seats (70), followed by Electrician and Fitter (30 each). Selected apprentices get a lump-sum stipend of ₹9,600 – ₹10,560 per month and must arrange their own accommodation.
Keep in mind: this is apprenticeship training, not a permanent SAIL job. The notice states that completing it gives no right to employment at SAIL-ISP, and shortlisted candidates have to sign a notarised undertaking to that effect.
