This syllabus is for GPSC Advertisement No. 05/2026-27: Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) Class-1, Gujarat Civil Service (GCS) Class-1 and Class-2, and Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service Class-2. GPSC’s exam schedule dated 4 July 2026 shows 213 posts under this advertisement.
GPSC released the Prelims syllabus on 16 April 2026 and the Mains syllabus on 31 July 2026. The Prelims was held on 7 June 2026 and GPSC published its final answer key on 30 July 2026. The same schedule lists the Mains for 5–11 October 2026. Check your call letter for the final dates.

All seven Mains papers are descriptive and 3 hours long. The medium is English and Gujarati, except that the Gujarati and English papers must be written in their own language. If there is any doubt about how the syllabus should be read, GPSC says the English version is final.

Negative marking in the language papers: in the MCQ part of Papers I and II, 0.6 marks are deducted for every wrong answer, for marking more than one answer, and for leaving a question without encoding any option on the OMR sheet.
Write two essays, one from each of the two sections, in about 1000–1200 words each. The paper tests your ability to argue a point, write in a clear sequence, and show original thinking.
Each of these papers has 10 questions of 15 marks (150 words each) and 5 questions of 20 marks (200 words each).
