SSC CGL 2026 Tier-I runs from 30 September to 30 October. When your admission certificate opens, which IDs SSC accepts, what to do if Aadhaar authentication failed, and how the sectional timer and negative marking work.
SSC CGL 2026 Tier-I is a computer-based exam running from 30 September to 30 October 2026, as set out in SSC's notice of 12 September. Most candidates have prepared for the paper. The exam-day rules deserve the same attention, because they decide whether you get into the hall. Here is what SSC's notices say.
SSC releases admission certificates in batches, one exam date at a time, 2–3 days before each candidate's own exam date, through the login on ssc.gov.in. If your exam is on 30 September, expect yours around 27–28 September. If it is later in October, yours will come later. SSC does not send admit cards by post or email.

A printout of your admission certificate.
An original photo ID showing the same date of birth as your admission certificate.
If your Aadhaar-based authentication was not completed: two recent passport-size colour photographs, and reach the centre two hours before the exam starts.
Anything else your admission certificate specifically asks for.
Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar printout
Voter ID, driving licence, PAN card or passport
University, college or school ID
Employer ID from a Central/State Government or PSU
Ex-Serviceman discharge book
Any other photo ID issued by the Central or State Government
This is the rule to check first. If your photo ID does not show your date of birth (many college IDs and some older documents do not), you must bring an extra original document that proves it, such as your matriculation certificate or birth certificate. And if the date of birth on your ID does not match your admission certificate, you will not be allowed to sit the exam. Check this the day your admission certificate comes out, not on the morning of the exam.

You get one hour, with a 15-minute timer for each section. Each wrong answer costs 0.50 marks. Scribe-eligible candidates get 1 hour 20 minutes, with 20 minutes per section. Everything except English Comprehension is in both English and Hindi.
With a separate timer for each section, practise your mocks with the same 15-minute split so your pacing matches the real exam.
PwBD candidates using a scribe must carry the medical certificate, undertaking or scribe ID copy that the notice asks for. If you chose your own scribe, the scribe's OTR had to be mapped by 24 September 2026, 11 PM. The Scribe Entry Pass is generated only for candidates who completed this mapping.
The CGL notice gives December 2026 as a tentative month for Tier-II, but SSC has not published a schedule yet. Our SSC CGL admit card page is updated as SSC posts notices.
