Navik (GD) male vacancies are split across five zones, with a separate merit list for each. Your zone is decided by your domicile certificate, not by where you studied. The zone-wise numbers are shown during registration.
Navik (GD) female, Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I have one all-India merit list. If your zone has no vacancy for your category (SC, ST, OBC or EWS), you may apply as unreserved, but then you get no age relaxation, no lower passing marks, no fee exemption and no travel fare.
The advertisement gives a date-of-birth range for each post instead of an age in years. Both dates are included.
| Post | Born between |
|---|---|
| Navik (General Duty), both batches | 1 November 2005 and 1 May 2009 |
| Yantrik (batch 01/2027) | 1 May 2005 and 1 May 2009 |
| Navik (Domestic Branch) (batch 02/2027) | 1 November 2005 and 1 October 2009 |
| Hygienist-I (batch 02/2027) | 1 November 2002 and 1 October 2009 |
Relaxation: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years. There is no relaxation for graduates or any other course, and no sports quota.
Any mismatch between your form and your original documents cancels your candidature, at any stage, even after you join. Keep these ready before you start the form.
Every certificate and marksheet must be issued on or before the last date of application. If your result is out but you do not have the marksheet and certificate by then, you are not eligible. Documents in a language other than Hindi or English must be uploaded with an English translation, and a multi-page document must be merged into one file.
Stage-I is a computer-based exam: 100 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 1 hour, in Hindi and English. There is no negative marking. If the exam runs in several shifts, marks are normalised.

| Diploma-level Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics | – | – | 60 |
| Total | 100 | 100 | 100 |
Passing marks: 40 for UR, EWS and OBC; 35 for SC and ST. Passing alone does not get you to Stage-II: ICG calls candidates by merit and centre capacity. The pattern is marked tentative in the brochure.
The topic-wise syllabus for every subject (12th Physics and Maths for Navik GD; Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics diploma topics for Yantrik) is in the CGEPT Information Brochure (PDF).
The Physical Fitness Test is held at Stage-II. All four tests are done one after another without a break; any break means failure. Bring sports kit (shoes, T-shirt, trousers).
| Test | Male | Female |
|---|---|---|
| 1.6 km run | 6 min 30 sec | 8 min |
| Squats (uthak-baithak) | 20 | 15 |
| Push-ups | 15 | 10 |
| Bent-knee sit-ups | 15 | 10 |
Bring your original ID (the one uploaded in the form), one printout of the e-admit card (black-and-white is fine if the photo and QR codes are clear) and two passport-size colour photos. Your left thumb is scanned; if mehndi or wax stops the machine reading it, you will not be allowed to sit the exam. Get your Stage-I admit card stamped and signed by the SSC official at the centre and keep it: you need it at Stage-II and Stage-III. According to the FAQ, your exam city appears in your login at least 7 days before the exam, and the admit card 2–3 days before.
If you are shortlisted, you must upload more documents and pick a date and centre in your login within the time ICG gives. Slots are first come, first served, and missing this step cancels your candidature. Stage-II takes 1–2 days and includes the PFT, an Assessment & Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical. All of it is qualifying only. Bring 12 passport-size photos and 2 self-attested photocopies of every document. SC/ST candidates claiming travel fare must also bring the original ticket, a cancelled cheque and the TA form.
Candidates in the final merit list report to INS Chilka at their own cost for Aadhaar-based identity checks, document verification and the pre-enrolment medical. Bring the police verification, character certificate, parental willingness, willingness and family particulars certificates and the attestation form. All these formats are in the official formats file (ZIP). The police verification must be obtained after the last date of application. Aadhaar linked to your mobile number is compulsory at this stage.
Your documents are verified with the boards and universities that issued them, even after you join.
Merit: the final order depends only on Stage-I marks, provided you clear every Stage-II test. On a tie, the older candidate ranks higher, then the one with more marks in the assessment test.
