Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have issued indicative notices for RRB NTPC 2026: 5,165 tentative vacancies for Non-Technical Popular Categories posts in Indian Railways, in two parts.

Status on 28 September 2026: only the indicative notices are out. The detailed CENs have not been published yet, so the post-wise vacancies, age limit, fee and exam dates for 2026 are not officially announced. RRB says the detailed CENs will be published only on its common website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and applications will be accepted only on rrbapply.gov.in.
Do this now: RRB asks candidates to update their Aadhaar before applying. The name and date of birth in Aadhaar must match your Class 10 certificate exactly, and Aadhaar should have your latest photo and biometrics (fingerprint and iris). Applications that are not Aadhaar-verified go through detailed scrutiny at every stage.

Previous cycle: CBAT for Station Master and Traffic Assistant; qualifying typing test (CBTST) for the four typist posts. Other posts go straight to DV.

Wait for CEN 06/2026 or 07/2026 on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in and check post-wise eligibility, age and medical standard.
Create an account on rrbapply.gov.in
Use your own mobile number and email ID, and verify your identity with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. If you made an account for an earlier RRB CEN, log in with it. Account details cannot be changed later.
Fill the form and choose one RRB
Choose one RRB and give your post preferences. In the previous cycle, no photo was uploaded: the form captured a live photograph of the candidate.
Upload signature and pay the fee
Previous cycle: signature in black ink on white paper, running handwriting, JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB. Fee by net banking, card or UPI; the application is accepted only after payment, confirmed by email and SMS.
The 2026 notices do not list posts yet. The table below shows the NTPC posts in the previous cycle (CEN 06/2025 and 07/2025) with their official 7th CPC pay level and initial basic pay. The 2026 notices cover Pay Level 5 & 6 (Graduate) and Level 2 & 3 (Undergraduate). The final 2026 post list will be in the detailed CENs.

Initial basic pay is the first cell of each level in the 7th CPC pay matrix. Dearness Allowance, HRA and other allowances are paid on top as per Railway rules and change over time, so we do not quote an in-hand figure.
Note: some websites are already printing a post-wise split of the 5,165 vacancies. That split is not in RRB's indicative notices, so wait for the detailed CEN before relying on it.
The 2026 fee will be given in the detailed CEN. In the previous cycle (CEN 06/2025 and 07/2025) it was:

RRB has published indicative notices in Employment News for CEN 06/2026 (Graduate) and CEN 07/2026 (Undergraduate); the Graduate notice is dated 26.09.2026. The detailed CENs have not been released yet; they will be published on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.
5,165 tentative vacancies across all RRBs: 3,477 Graduate (CEN 06/2026) and 1,688 Undergraduate (CEN 07/2026). The post-wise split will be given in the detailed CENs.
Graduate: 08 October to 06 November 2026. Undergraduate: 15 October to 13 November 2026 (11:59 PM). Both are tentative dates, and applications are accepted only on rrbapply.gov.in.
Age will be counted as on 01.01.2027. The limits will be given in the detailed CEN. In the previous cycle they were 18–33 years for Graduate posts and 18–30 years for Undergraduate posts, with relaxation for reserved categories.

The subjects are the same in CBT-1 and CBT-2. This is the official syllabus from the previous cycle's detailed CENs.
No exam date has been announced for NTPC 2026, so there is no admit card yet. In the previous cycle, the city intimation slip (exam city and date) came about 10 days before the exam and the e-call letter (admit card) about 4 days before, both on the official RRB websites. Nothing is sent by post.
The RRB NTPC 2026 result and cut-off have not been released, because the exam has not been held. RRB publishes results with normalised marks (CBTs run in many shifts) and cut-offs separately for each RRB, post category and community.

In the previous cycle: a degree from a recognised university for Graduate posts, and 12th pass with at least 50% marks for Undergraduate posts (50% not required for SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen or candidates with higher qualifications). Typist posts also need typing on a computer. Check the 2026 detailed CEN before applying.
In the previous cycle: CBT-1 had 100 questions in 90 minutes and CBT-2 had 120 questions in 90 minutes, covering General Awareness, Mathematics and Reasoning. 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
The 2026 notices cover Pay Level 5 & 6 (Graduate) and Level 2 & 3 (Undergraduate). Initial basic pay under the 7th CPC is ₹29,200 (Level 5), ₹35,400 (Level 6), ₹19,900 (Level 2) and ₹21,700 (Level 3), plus allowances.
The exam dates have not been officially announced yet. In the previous cycle, the e-call letter (admit card) was issued about 4 days before the exam, and the exam city about 10 days before, on the official RRB websites.
